take the shot, make the shot

Max doesn't often do photo sessions with me...because let's be honest, he is over his momma and her camera.  But there are those rare occasions where he is around and will humor me.

He has always been a sports lover, so I always have my best luck taking photos of him if he is doing something he loves.  Today we headed out to the soccer fields before the rain hit.

We ended us getting some images that we liked...while I played around with my shutter speed.  I always love crispy, bright images.  However, when your little, not so little, is kicking a soccer ball right at your head it can be tricky getting those sharp images.

During the session I kept telling MaxFactor to TAKE THE SHOT.  "Don't worry buddy.  You won't hit me.  I have faith in you."  So are you ready for the obvious cliche.  You will never make the shot you don't take.  It is so easy for me to say that to Max...and so hard for me to work on myself.

High actions shots are defiantly out of my comfort zone and something I need to keep working on.  I am super self conscious and really critical of my images.  I constantly compare myself to other photographers.  But if I never make myself take those shots, try something new...well then I am NEVER going to get those beautiful images.  So here is to giving it a shot...

summer nights and bug bites

Max was out of town for the week at summer camp...which lead to my brilliant idea of doing an evening photo shoot with all 3 girls.  Brad was on to my plan as soon as he walked in the door from work and saw the girls.  (The dresses gave it away.)  My bribe for helping...PIZZA RANCH.

After eating my weight in chicken and mashed potatoes...we were off to Seminole Valley Park in Cedar Rapids for some evening photos.  Who knew the feast would be at Seminole Valley?!?!

Our photo session lasted about 15 minutes because the mosquitoes were FEASTING on us!  The girls did amazing with all the bug and bits.

So...lesson learned.  From now on bug spray joins the list of essential photo session items.

momma moments

My littlest little...just turned ONE.  How did that happen, where did the time go?  And how is it that I don't have any photos with her?

This momma often has a camera in her hands, which means that I am never in the shot.  I am so lucky to have an awesome photographer friend that helped me capture my most favorite moments...momma moments.  Those sweet dreamy moments where a momma whispers in her little's ear that she loves her to the moon and back.

My hope is that all of you to have sweet momma moments with your littles.  Photographed or not, you will always remember those moments!
