on the move

Ever feel like you blinked...and a whole year was over?  Every time I look at my littles that is EXACTLY how I feel.

Olive Jean is now one year old, and although I miss that sweet snuggly baby stage of life...it is so much fun watching her personality develop.

Olive is a mover...always has been.  She has been flirting with the idea of walking for bit now.  That flirtation is getting stronger and stronger.  So...when I took these photos I starting thinking, where did my chunky baby legs go, those sweet rolls that I love to smooch after bath time?!?!

{Lulu's super cute onesie is from Swanky Shank, her shoes are Trendy Ends, and the bow is a treasure from Posh Peanut.  Love that mini moped?!?!  It is from Jamm Scoot.  Pssssst...it comes in so many cute colors?}

take the shot, make the shot

Max doesn't often do photo sessions with me...because let's be honest, he is over his momma and her camera.  But there are those rare occasions where he is around and will humor me.

He has always been a sports lover, so I always have my best luck taking photos of him if he is doing something he loves.  Today we headed out to the soccer fields before the rain hit.

We ended us getting some images that we liked...while I played around with my shutter speed.  I always love crispy, bright images.  However, when your little, not so little, is kicking a soccer ball right at your head it can be tricky getting those sharp images.

During the session I kept telling MaxFactor to TAKE THE SHOT.  "Don't worry buddy.  You won't hit me.  I have faith in you."  So are you ready for the obvious cliche.  You will never make the shot you don't take.  It is so easy for me to say that to Max...and so hard for me to work on myself.

High actions shots are defiantly out of my comfort zone and something I need to keep working on.  I am super self conscious and really critical of my images.  I constantly compare myself to other photographers.  But if I never make myself take those shots, try something new...well then I am NEVER going to get those beautiful images.  So here is to giving it a shot...

summer nights and bug bites

Max was out of town for the week at summer camp...which lead to my brilliant idea of doing an evening photo shoot with all 3 girls.  Brad was on to my plan as soon as he walked in the door from work and saw the girls.  (The dresses gave it away.)  My bribe for helping...PIZZA RANCH.

After eating my weight in chicken and mashed potatoes...we were off to Seminole Valley Park in Cedar Rapids for some evening photos.  Who knew the feast would be at Seminole Valley?!?!

Our photo session lasted about 15 minutes because the mosquitoes were FEASTING on us!  The girls did amazing with all the bug and bits.

So...lesson learned.  From now on bug spray joins the list of essential photo session items.

momma moments

My littlest little...just turned ONE.  How did that happen, where did the time go?  And how is it that I don't have any photos with her?

This momma often has a camera in her hands, which means that I am never in the shot.  I am so lucky to have an awesome photographer friend that helped me capture my most favorite moments...momma moments.  Those sweet dreamy moments where a momma whispers in her little's ear that she loves her to the moon and back.

My hope is that all of you to have sweet momma moments with your littles.  Photographed or not, you will always remember those moments!

squeaky clean

Mom's brilliant idea...take a tubby in the kitchen sink.  This might not be the best idea when your little's favorite thing to do is CLIMB!  She was so slippery, squirming around in this big sink.  Add two big sisters to the mix and the chaos just grows.  Seeing that sweet little face looking up at me reminds me...she isn't too big yet.  So, for now I am going to strive to capture those moments.  Those little bit cray cray, always ridiculous, sweet adorable baby moments!

i'll eat you up, i love you so

What do you do when your littlest little dives right into her first cupcake...for her first birthday?!?!  You join her.  Sweet Lou might love frosting just as much as her momma do.

She will never remember this day or the way the frosting first tasted.  But I will.  I will remember how she giggled when she saw the cupcake.  I will tell her how she squealed when we sang to her because she just couldn't wait.

I hope that one day when she looks at these photos she will feel our love and she will see what an amazing day it was.
